Let me start by saying that I absolutely love my job! One of my favorite things about my job is that I get to plan special events. Recently I was asked to design a table at a local fundraising event here in Phoenix and I am so excited to share my design with you guys!
Each year, the Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter of Phoenix hosts a charity luncheon called Tables that Bloom. This fundraiser benefits the Foundation for Blind Children and it features fabulous tablescapes that are all designed by local designers from all different backgrounds. Being that I work for the beneficiary organization, I have been able to attend the event as a guest for the last two years and I can easily say it is one of my favorite events. I was planning on attending the event as a guest again this year when my boss asked if I wanted to design a table and generously gave me a budget to work with. I immediately accepted the offer.
I had no clue what I was going to do in terms of design but I knew I wanted to incorporate a lot of fresh flowers (shocker). After spending almost a whole day browsing Pinterest, I was really inspired by all things tropical and decided on the theme “Let’s Flamingle”. I didn’t have a huge budget so I allotted for the flowers to be my largest expense. The venue was great and provided everything for the table (chairs, plates, flatware, glasses, tablecloths, etc.) and it was up to the designer to bring in any additional items they might want. I took advantage of this and used the venues flatware, glasses and plates. I had several pineapple and flamingo items of my own that I was able to incorporate into my design. This really helped me save money. After I ordered the flowers, I used the leftover money to rent a beautiful ivory sequin tablecloth and farmhouse tuscan chairs (not a fan of the chairs provided by the venue).
The day before the event, I was surprisingly was not stressed. This is seriously not common if you plan/work events. I turned my condo into a flower shop and spent most of the day making the arrangements for my table. My refrigerator even became a makeshift floral cooler. This was hands down my favorite part of the whole design process.
It was such a great event and everything came together quite nicely. I am so thrilled with how my design turn out!
Thanks for stopping by!
